Safety equipment and procedures (SEP) - Initial Training

The SEP part of initial training takes 15 days of the 6 week training course. Cabin crew are trained to operate on the A340-300 and 600 and are then converted onto the Boeing 747 before gaining their wings. The cabin crew are also trained in equipment location, operation and procedures which are standard on all aircraft types that Virgin Atlantic operates. Our Foreign national crew are trained on the fleet which operates to their destination/s.

The training is intense and consists of classroom theory, exercises, aircraft visits, practical demonstrations of evacuation techniques, fire fighting, swimming pool drills, Security, Dangerous Goods and Crew Resource Management (CRM) training. Daily testing ensures that trainees can demonstrate their understanding of SEP along the way and a final test is carried out before they are allowed to continue to the next phase of the course.

Only after completion of the 30 day training course will cabin crew be signed off and presented with their wings.
